Kramer leads after first day World Cup round, Verweij can forget title by fall – NU.nl

After a tenth place earlier on Saturday in the 500 meters Kramer won the 5 kilometers in 6.07,49 and that was the twelfth time ever ridden at that distance. He did not come close to his own world record from 2007 (6.03,32).

Coach Jac Orie announced before the race that Kramer still on the schedule of the world would leave, but after a few races on the five kilometer saw coach and skater already a global top time there would not sit down.

The six-time world champion defends Sunday in the 1500 meters ahead of 0.17 on Denis Yuskov, who is in second overall. Russian challenger drove the third time in the 5000 meters (6.13,64).

The Norwegian Sverre Lunde Pedersen after Kramer was the fastest with 6.11,77, good for third place in the standings, to 0 30 of the Dutch leader.

The Canadian Denny Morrison, who won the 500 meters, is fourth in the overall standings at 1.60 Kramer. The second Dutchman is only found in seventh place and that is debuting Douwe de Vries

Verweij

Due to his crash in the 500 meters Verweij is not more common in the general classification. He fell in his race against the Japanese Shane Williamson after a few meters because he caught it with the tip of his left skate in the ice.

2014 The World Champion decided to no longer start on the 5th kilometers because he kept a painful knee to the crash.

Morrison surprised in the 500 meters with a blazing fast time of 34.98. The silver was Joeskov in 35.64, the bronze for the Pole Zbigniew Brodka (35.79)
