Spanish Cup final will take place at Camp Nou – The Standard

The Spanish Cup final between FC Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao will be played on May 30 at Camp Nou. That made the Spanish Football Federation announced on Wednesday.

Both teams were in favor of a final at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium of Real Madrid, but the Royal refused. Real Madrid fears that the Spanish national anthem, which is traditionally played for the finals, will be disturbed by the supporters of Barça and Athletic Bilbao. That happened when the clubs in 2009 and 2012 in the Cup final faced each other.

FC Barcelona will for the first time since 1963 to play a final in their own stadium. The Catalan top club holds the record with 26 cups. Bilbao, which since 1984 took no longer wish, follows in second place with 23 victories end.
