Chris Froome, after the team time trial still to be yellow shoulders. The Sky Briton had to concede a second on the BMC klassementsman Tejay van Garderen was the fastest on the line
.
The second loss of Sky was due to Nicolas Roche. The Irishman was the fifth rider of his team, but had trouble keeping up with his teammates in the final climb. That had to mean something, and therefore as Sky lost the lead that was built on the move.
Movistar of Nairo Quintana looked to be heading off in the long victory thanks to an extremely fast second part of the team time trial. The riders lost as the cadence after a short climb, and presumably gambled away the win. She eventually lost four seconds BMC.
Saxo-Tinkoff Alberto Contador lost 28 seconds, Astana Vincenzo Nibali lost 35 seconds.
The Dutch team LottoNL-Jumbo, among others, Robert Gesink finished ninth in Plumelec at 1.14 of the winning team. Their race was faster than for example that of the Trek Bauke Mollema (11th at 1.25) and Giant-Alpecin (16th at 1.37)
