The Dutch tennis players have qualified today for the playoffs for a place in the top group of the Davis Cup. In singles was Robin Haase in three sets too strong for the Austrian Dominic Thiem (6-4, 7-6 and 6-3). With this victory, the Netherlands is now 3-1 against Austria.
With one game to go is to not identify the Dutch tennis men for their opponents. The team led by former tennis player Jan Siemerink can now prepare for the match in the playoffs. If tennis players win there, Netherlands return to the world group, the highest group in the Davis Cup.
Last year, the Dutch tennis players also did already in the playoffs, but then in order to save his life in the world group. In a duel with Croatia dug Haase, Jean-Julien Rojer, Igor Sijsling and Thiemo de Bakker but the worst of it: 3-2. Netherlands relegated to the second-highest group of the Davis Cup.
In the match with Austria, Robin Haase twice before in action. Yesterday Hagenees still lost in four sets to Andreas Haider-Maurer. That same day he revenged himself in the double: along with Jean-Julien Rojer won in three sets by Olivier Marach and Jurgen Melzer. The third victory was won by Thiemo de Bakker, also against Dominic Thiem
