LottoNL-Jumbo crew made until the start of the final climb an excellent impression. Gesink had at the foot of the Plateau de Beille still joined by Wilco Kelderman, Steven Kruijswijk, Laurens ten Dam and Bram Tankink. The latter even took the cup from the remainder of the pack and made sure that include Dan Martin had to solve.
With the stage win away from a large group of escapees took Saxobank-Tinkoff Team Sky and then raises in hands. That took Tankink Kelderman and Kruijswijk direct the head. Gesink have persisted until he had a flat tire. Bauke Mollema then was the only Dutchman still in the group with the big names.
Alberto Contador, Vincenzo Nibali and Nairo Quintana were all trying to get away, but Geraint Thomas and Richie Porte took everyone back in service by Chris Froome. The pace of the two foremen Mollema was just too powerful, while Gesink could not return.
The favorites came at 6:45 of stage winner Joaquim Rodriguez over. Gesink and Mollema lost a minute on those men.
By tijdverlijs Tony Gallopin Gesink is rising despite the setback to seventh place in the overall standings. Mollema remains 10th because Nibali flips over him and Warren Barguil just droped

Years ago I took the tour, now glued to the tube. Big compliments for the Dutch riders, but today I found Gesink fantastic. Discharged by a puncture and ultimately just a minute lose. Lovely to look after. Rabo training team has still not done so bad …!

I have NPO1 replaced by Belgium TV, what a relief compared with the muppets on NPO1.

Gesink worship today rose to great heights by Herbert Dijkstra. He performed for the last 10 minutes of the stage 147 x to name Gesink. Striking Mollema he mentions only if he can not do otherwise. Yes man has his preferences, even if “neutral” sportscaster.
