Robin van Persie arrives tonight in Istanbul to finalize his transfer to Fenerbahçe. The 31-year-old international follows in the footsteps of Dirk Kuyt, who played in recent years by the Turkish club
That’s Fenerbahce announced this morning on Twitter.
Van Persie played last season at Manchester United under coach Louis van Gaal. That season was very disappointing for the Dutchman. He only scored ten goals in 27 games and at the end of the season Van Persie even brought some matches on the bench by. That the transfer was coming was therefore not surprising.
In all likelihood Van Persie signs for three seasons at Fenerbahce, with an option for a fourth season. According to The Guardian Manchester United gets a sum of 6.5 million euros for the transfer.
