Handbalsters for first time in history to World Cup semifinals – NU.nl

Orange counted in the quarterfinals in a heart-stopping duel offs with Topland France: 28-25.

The team of coach Henk Groener takes Friday in the semi-final against Poland, which Russia turned off: 21-20. the Netherlands in the group stage even with 31-20 too strong for Poland.

Keep Star Tess Wester was the absolute star in the Dutch team. With phenomenal rescues she held up her team. In the field were Nycke Large, Yvette Broch and Estavana Polman boosters. Polman scored at a crucial stage in the second half six times in a row.

Netherlands showed no respect for France, world champion in 2003 and also holds three silver paste. Wester played a hoodrol in the first half. Her rescues made in particular ensure that the strong French team could not get the upper hand. Dutch team was even slightly better, especially thanks to the easy-scoring Big and circle actress Broch.



Curious phase

The last five minutes of the first half hit Orange suddenly a hole. That was a curious phase, which keep star Wester a time penalty on the side was serving and Estavana Polman served temporarily as a goalkeeper and player.

Polman could not prevent a goal against, but did score himself in the keeper shirt. Wester then stopped when they return to the field immediately to a far throw from the French against. Halftime score was 15-12.

After halftime Netherlands continued to perform well. The generously praised coverage was good and the goals continued to fall, although there had to work hard for. Polman exploited the penalty throws which provoked Broch on the circle; Netherlands ran out to four goals ahead.

A nail-biting final phase followed, in which the French team still gave everything, but in which the Netherlands remained proud.
