Excelsior narrowly beat Willem II relegation duel – Voetbal International

Excelsior in the home match against Willem II failed to make a significant victory in the fight against relegation. The number sixteen of the Eredivisie got enough opportunities to do the weakened number fourteen pain, but it remained 0-0.

William II was ten rounds ago the last club which won Excelsior in the Eredivisie. The team of coach Fons Groenendijk picked up since then only three points and scored only six times. Especially since the turn of the Kralingers are struggling to find the net (only once against PSV). The Tilburg were in that regard again the ideal opponent, because they appeared with a makeshift defense to kick-off.

That showed. It brought because of injuries and suspensions plagued team that coach Jurgen Streppel on the leg, blaakte not exactly self-confidence. With attacking midfielder Nick van der Velden as right and left-back Dico Koppers center back Willem II gave repeatedly space away against Excelsior, but failed to capitalize. So was Brandley Kuwas (photo) the ball does not come along out of his goal Kostas Lamprou after 21 minutes.

The first chance Excelsior got was perhaps the best, but Kostas Lamprou arrived on time his aim off to Brandley Kuwas of scoring to hold off.
The first chance Excelsior got was perhaps the best, but Kostas Lamprou arrived on time from his goal to Brandley Kuwas of scoring to keep.

Kuwas made early this season impressed by (3-0) as well as against De Graafschap ADO Den Haag score (3-3) and prepare for a hit. The FC Volendam came over winger was now less happy. He failed to control a long pass from Adil Auassar then the way to the goal of Lamprou was open. And when the 23-year-old Northern Dutchman extended cross from Daan Bovenberg, Tom popped Weert against Willem II’er on.

The lack of decisiveness in the enemy box Excelsior continued to play tricks after the break. Koppers after the ball had lost the half, Auassar lingered too long when he was released for Lamprou after a cross from Kuwas. Kuwas himself was too late when Van Weert pretended. Crossing from Luigi Bruins and Daryl Van Mieghem were not given back to Bovenberg and Van Weert, who also met with Lamprou. Thereby grabbed Willem II, where Bruno Andrade after half a year, yet again made his comeback a point.

Tricolores had the last two games against FC Groningen (1-1) and Heracles Almelo (0-0) even though a draw, but that was at home. The first item on foreign soil in 2016 was actually too much of a good thing. Only Robbie Haemhouts suggested Filip Kurto once the test after an hour. Bartholomew Ogbeche was like during his debut hardly dangerous. However, the Nigerian striker took a pass of Rick Kruys of the line, allowing Willem II fourteenth remains. Excelsior is sixteenth.
