Season Ajax defender Riedewald past because of ankle fracture – NU.nl

Research in the hospital brought the fracture Monday to light. The Orange International later had surgery this week and will have to recover three to four months, as Ajax announced on the club’s website.

The 19-year-old Riedewald is the second defender Ajax have for a long time miss.

Late last month it was announced that right-back Kenny Tete approximately ten weeks can not come into action because of a torn ankle ligament.

Viergever

Riedewald ran the break Sunday though early in the game because he slammed into the ground with his left foot. The rest of the Classic was replaced by Nick Viergever center back.

Mike van der Hoorn was in the Classic the other central defender back at Ajax. Joel Veltman can also play there, but it differs by the absence of Tete recent weeks, mostly from the right back position.

Ajax plays Sunday at 12:30 against FC Groningen. Amsterdammers are second in the league with one point behind leaders PSV.
