The Italian tennis player Flavia Pennetta has placed today for the second time in her career for the semifinals of the US Open. The 33-year-old tennis star, if placed 26th, hit in the quarterfinals of the much higher estimated Czech Petra Kvitova (fifth) home.
Pennetta defeated Kvitova in 2.5 hours there and had three sets needed: 6-4 4-6 6-2. In the first set Kvitova broke storing its experienced opponente three times, even the two-time Wimbledon champion won her service twice. Then the roles were reversed. A break at 4-4 in the second set, Pennetta took advantage. That struck them with some difficulty.
It is the second time that the Italian tennis player qualified for the US Open, the first time was in 2013. In the years 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2014 stranded Pennetta in the quarterfinals.
In the semifinal state Pennetta against the Romanian Simona Halep, the number two of the ranking list, or Victoria Azarenka of Belarus.
