The Orange Women have Thursday night for the first time in history qualified for the World Cup, that next year will be held in Canada.
The team of coach Roger Reijners was Verona 2-1 too strong for the women of Italy. The first leg ended in The Hague last week in a 1-1 draw.
Vivianne Miedema was important for the “Lionesses” by scoring twice. The attack leader of Orange led the entire game for a lot of danger and that paid off in the eighth minute.
Danielle van de Donk saw Miedema free on the edge of the penalty area. Her cross was custom, and Miedema simple touch shot: 1-0
Opportunities
Reijners saw his wives after the opening goal. opportunity was given at 2-0. However, the second goal was only just before halftime. Miedema dribbled keep star Laura Giuliani after a fine through ball from Lieke Martens and slid dominated inside.
Orange went with a comfortable lead at the break, but just after the break it was still awkward. In the second half the Italian women knew more threatening to be and that resulted seven minutes after the break in the tying goal.
Own Goal
Stephanie van der Gragt shot a cross from Sara Gama unhappy behind her own goalkeeper Loes Geurts: 2-1. Italy thus became stronger, but beyond that tying goal, the team did not.
After three minutes of injury time blew referee Bibiana Steinhaus recently on her flute and burst the party at the ‘Orange Lionesses’ release.
