AZ has penetrated into the group stage of the Europa League. The Alkmaar team knocked dikverdiend the Romanian FC Astra Giurgiu 2-0 through goals from Jop van der Linden and Robert Mühren in the last quarter. That 2-0 win was enough for the 3-2 defeat in the away match completely to brush away

AZ tried in the beginning FC Astra primarily to harass the wings. The actions of Guus Huppert on the right, Dabney dos Santos on the left had little effect, since only rarely striker Vincent Janssen was reached. Midway through the first half AZ had the first serious chance. Goalkeeper Silviu Lung responded capably on a bet of Markus Henriksen. So did the goalie moments later with shots from Job van der Linden and Thom Haye.
Johansson fog
Shortly failed for the rest Mattias Johansson put AZ ahead. In free position shot the broken yanked back on high. FC Astra suggested there little offensive front. The Romanians played continuously with a lot of players behind the ball. Despite some sloppiness in defense of AZ goalkeeper Sergio Rochet was never in trouble.
Also in the beginning of the second half Lung goalkeeper distinguished himself. First he made a harmless shot from Huppert. Thereafter, a powder of Johansson. Also betting again Huppert he thrashed with a superb reflex save from his goal.
AZ continues to attack
It called for AZ that the team enthusiastically and often acceptable football in search continued for the liberating goal. With a double substitution coach John van den Brom tried to force fifteen minutes before the goal. He brought Muamer Tankovic and Robert Mühren inside the lines. It was not one of those two strikers which finally broke the spell. That honor came Jop van der Linden increasing. He popped a free kick in the 1-0. The so eminent keeper Lung misjudged thereby ugly.
Shortly thereafter decided invader Mühren the duel finally allowing AZ as before Thursday Ajax qualified for the group stage of the Europa League.
