The British racing driver Justin Wilson is deceased following an accident on the track at Pocono. Wilson was in 2003 teammate Jos Verstappen’s Minardi.
The 37-year old driver crashed last Sunday during an IndyCar race in Longmont, Pennsylvania. The American driver Sage Karam drove for Wilson and crashed.
Wilson was then hit by a high-speed debris which came from Karams car and therefore the Briton crashed against the edge of the track . The head injuries Wilson, sustaining become fatal.
The tall Wilson (1.92 meter) began his career in 1998 in the British Formula Palmer Audi already raised, only to graduate to Formula 3000, where he was champion in 2001. In 2003, the Briton started in Formula 1 and he was in Minardi team-mate Jos Verstappen. But this adventure did not last long and soon Wilson moved to the US where he started in games of Champ Car and IndyCar.
In 2004, Wilson was still a member of the Dutch racing team Racing For Holland, which was founded by Jan Lammers. With which team did the British take on the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans. He shared the car when including with Tom Coronel:
That Wilson this season still took part in the competition is remarkable; He had no place secured to drive, but should start after a good performance at the famed Indianapolis 500 still for the last five races. The race on Sunday was the second to last; next Sunday had been the final race
