Ireen Wüst has halfway round the world championships in Calgary as well as Martina Sablikova Heather Richardson in front of him in the standings. The latter is Sunday for the first time in her life, a 5000 meters away.
“The 5 kilometers will be interesting,” laughs Richardson. “Most of what I’ve done in the training myself seven rounds.”
The American, who last weekend in Astana still finished second at the World Cup sprint, is partly due to a big win on the 500 meters (37.11) in the lead in the standings. On the 3 kilometers she kept the difference with a personal record of 4.05,00 somewhat limited.
“It was a pretty crazy week. I’m still a little off balance, but it’s fine” pointing Richardson include the time difference of thirteen hours between Astana and Calgary
