The world title went to Bronte Campbell, the sister of defending champion Cate Campbell who had to settle for the bronze. Sarah Sjöström from Sweden tipped as second in.
The 21-year-old Campbell was 50 meters already in the lead and kept it full on the second track, though Sjöström still came up. The Australian took the gold in 52.52 seconds and the world thus kept in the family. Sjöström clocked 52.70, the oldest Campbell (23 years) was third in 52.82
