KNVB wants European Championship for Women in 2017 to the Netherlands – nrc.nl

Netherlands is a candidate in order for women to organize in 2017 the European Football Championship The KNVB has today officially UEFA candidacy as host.

Play Cities are then according to the KNVB Breda, Deventer, Doetinchem, Enschede, Rotterdam (The Castle), Tilburg and Utrecht. Netherlands as host country would be placed directly in the struggle between the sixteen participating countries.

UEFA points in December, to which the EC may organize. 2017 Secretary-General Bert van Oostveen of the KNVB writes in a statement:

“Given the development of girls’ and women’s football is the time for a final tournament of our women’s team in own. It’s a huge incentive for the development and recognition of the Dutch women, both in the top and in the width. “

The championship for women was held in 2013 in Sweden. Netherlands also participated but was last in a group where the later champion Germany in it.

The tournament for women has been organized since 1984. The best result for the Netherlands was the semifinals in 2009
