Michael van Gerwen after catching up to semifinals – The Latest News

The world’s number one Michael van Gerwen has yesterday evening in the English Blackpool with the necessary effort for the semifinals the World Matchplay Darts posted. The 26 year old Dutchman pulled in an exciting duel with the Englishman Ian White (PDC 10) with 16-13 at the longest end.



Van Gerwen was pretty difficult with his 44 year old opponent from Stoke-on-Trent. He came 1-6 behind, but managed to recover slowly. With a lag of 8-10 he won four legs in a row (12-10). White fought their way yet again to a lead (12-13), but then took no more place in the Winter Gardens.

“It’s great that I’ve won this race,” shouted Van Gerwen, which reported an average of 102.04. “Ian played great, but in the final I threw fortunately many doubles.”

For a place in the final Van Gerwen takes on Peter Wright (PDC 5). The colorful Scot, in the first round Kim Huybrechts (PDC 15) threw 10-5 in the tournament, was in his quarter-final with 16-7 too strong for the former Welsh rugby player Gerwyn Price (PDC 46).

The other quarter-finals will be played today. Seven-time defending champion Phil Taylor (PDC 2) it is in an English-together in front of Dave Chisnall (PDC 7). The Austrian Mensur Suljovic (PDC 31), in the eighth finals of the Scottish world champion Gary Anderson (PDC 3) surprised (13-9) takes on Englishman James Wade (PDC 6), champion in 2007 and four times runner-up (2006, 2008, 2011, 2012).
