Tom Dumoulin Wednesday was overjoyed with his victory in the time trial of the Eneco Tour. The rider of Giant-Shimano defeated four-time world champion Fabian Cancellara.
“It can not be better. I’m very satisfied, did my thing done, and tried as hard as possible to drive,” shouted the young Limburger after 9.6 kilometers through the streets of Breda.
Dumoulin Tuesday lost valuable time in the World Tour course and therefore is second in the standings behind the new leader Lars Boom.
“I have the snot eye ridden Tuesday, but I now had no problems. This is my first win in a World Tour contest and that makes me feel good.”
The Tour de France was the 23 year old Dumoulin have to settle for second place in the time trial behind Tony Martin. “I have often lost to him, but finally he was once not.”
