-> TERNEUZEN (Reuters) – Andrea Guardini, the first stage of the Eneco Tour won Monday. The Italian Astana was a journey of 183 kilometers with start and finish in Terneuzen, the fastest in the sprint. The Frenchman Yohann Gène finished second, Davide Cimolai was third.
Tom Dumoulin tried it in the last kilometer still a failure, but the Giant-Shimano rider was passed just before the finish. He finished seventh, two spots behind Boy van Poppel.
In the closing stages were several crashes before with among others sprinters Danny van Poppel, Sacha Modolo and Matthew Goss as victims. Tuesday moves the pack for a trip to Brabant Waalwijk to Vlijmen.
