EK ROUND Verweij wins 500 meters, Kramer tenth – NUsport.nl

Koen Verweij on Saturday won the 500 meters at the European Championship round in Chelyabinsk. Sven Kramer did somewhat disappoint and was tenth.

Verweij finished in a time of 36.20. The Swede David Andersson finished in second place with 36.27 and the bronze was for the Pole Jan Szymanski (36,47).

Kramer got no further than 37.03. Wouter Olde Heuvel was slightly faster with 36.85 and was eighth.

Bart Swings also did not do well and seems almost no chance for a top rating this weekend. The Belgian had problems with his start and did not go beyond the eleventh time (37.06).

Later on Saturday, the men still drive the 5 miles where Kramer will want revenge and wants a good step put his seventh European title.

The 28-year-old Frisian than improves the record of Rintje Ritsma now like Kramer has six European allround titles, but also took two silver medals and two bronze. Kramer won silver once
