The formation of national coach Giovanni Guidetti was the last game in Group A with 3-0 too strong for Italy. The sets of teeth were 25-15, 25-18 and 25-22.
Netherlands dominated from the start and gave the Italian opponent in the first two sets little chance. In the third set took Italy halfway through the initiative, but eventually Netherlands still picked up the win.
“This win means a lot for self-confidence. This team can beat anyone,” said Guidetti. “It’s a good team, but we must not be arrogant now. We will not change our mindset.”
The first two games against Slovenia and Poland were won as well, making the Netherlands as group winners certainly of the quarterfinals. Italy and Poland need to reach the last eight via the intermediate round

Thursday
The quarterfinals are Thursday in Antwerp and Rotterdam in the program. Netherlands therein shall Poland or Belarus.
The victory over Italy outrun the favorite Russia. “Today was a final for us, because nobody wants to play against Russia,” Guidetti was satisfied.
The coach is confident that he can go far with his team. “Every day I become more impressed. They are getting better and better. This team has learned a lot. If we struggle, the players resolve. Issues”
On Wednesday, the matches will be played in the intermediate round, also in Antwerp and Rotterdam. Therein take the numbers two and three of the different groups against each other
