Orange had a particularly difficult start to the European Championship qualifiers and a victory over the Turks is sorely needed. In Group A the Netherlands after five matches only 7 points. That’s two more than Turkey, but less than 5 Iceland and 6 less than the Czech Republic.

National coach Guus Hiddink had to do in Amsterdam without star players Arjen Robben and Robin van Persie. This Wesley Sneijder was again the captain of Orange. Ibrahim Afellay and Memphis Depay now got a chance in the base.
