Verstappen set eighth fastest time in second free practice Malaysia – NU.nl

The 17-year-old Dutchman Toro Rosso came at the Sepang International Circuit to a round of 1.41,220.

With that he was about a second faster than the 1.42,291 his teammate Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard realized the fourteenth time.

Earlier in the day, Verstappen during the first free practice the seventh fastest time. Sainz was in that session a few tenths of a second faster.

Verstappen was in the second session to drive the mission a lot of rounds, with the aim to get a grip on the softer tire. That was not easy on the hot asphalt, where the rubber hard wear. Verstappen came to thirty rounds

Two weeks ago Verstappen was due to an engine problem forced to retire on his debut in Melbourne

Hamilton

Lewis Hamilton will look back with mixed feelings on the Friday sessions. The reigning world champion Mercedes was during the second free practice fastest having previously no fastest time on the day due to an engine problem.

During the second session, Hamilton was about four tenths of a second faster than Ferrari -coureur Kimi Raikkonen

Hamilton’s team-mate Nico Rosberg, during the first training still the fastest, reached the third time. Red Bull Racing driver Daniil Kvyat and Valtteri Bottas Williams completed the top five in the second session.

Sebastian Vettel spun during the second session at Turn 11. The German Ferrari came into this training until the seventh time, where he earlier in the day recorded the third time.

Alonso

In his comeback with McLaren put Alonso sixteenth and fourteenth fastest time. The 33-year-old Spaniard missed the opening round by a crash in the final test.

Thursday withstood Alonso a medical examination that performed the doctors of the International Automobile Federation FIA.

During both the first as the second free practice session Alonso left his teammate Jenson Button behind. The 2009 world champion was still faster than Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi Manor F1 Team.
