PSV made it unnecessary exciting but with a 4-2 win at De Graafschap led the Eindhoven team Saturday the pressure on rival Ajax up on. Unthreatened PSV seemed on his way to an easy victory, but after a 3-0 halftime score, the home team made a weak second half. The ‘Super Farmers’ even found containing the tying goal. PSV saw in the second half fail the important midfielder Andres Guardado with a muscle injury.
With goals from Luuk de Jong, Davy Pröpper and Luciano Narsingh PSV for rest on a big lead. By fine goalkeeping by Hidde Jurjus injury to De Graafschap remained limited. The keeper stopped include a penalty of Jürgen Locadia.
In the second half brought Ted van de Pavert and Bart Straalman the excitement back in the race but substitute Gastón Pereiro resulted in the closing stages for relief at the Eindhoven public.
Before the winter lost PSV regular points at much lower classified opponents. So there was a draw against Willem II Excelsior, ADO Den Haag and Roda JC. It was therefore with some care looking forward to the program successively FC Twente, Excelsior and De Graafschap but the defending champion was proud.
Counter
The team of coach Phillip Cocu took the lead after a rapid counterattack that ended with top scorer Luuk de Jong. Called the PSV striker shot still against the eminent goalkeeper but his rebound was spot on.
De Graafschap shouted after a half hour penalty after a clash of Davy Pröpper with Kristopher Vida but referee Björn Kuipers allowed to continue. Pröpper went counterattacked and hit the target with a placed shot. His brother Robin Pröpper the defender De Graafschap took a few minutes later in his opponent’s penalty area Luuk de Jong to the ground and then Kuipers indeed put the ball on the spot. And after previous failures of his teammates was Jürgen Locadia the right man but he did not score from the penalty spot. Jurjus turned his effort.
Narsingh
Right Winger Luciano Narsingh brought moments later from the right side idle on the board. After calm was the memory back to October when PSV visit Doetinchem gave away a 3-0 lead. Ted van de Pavert and Bart De Graafschap Straalman brought closer and made the encounter a little exciting. Substitute Gastón Pereiro resulted in the closing stages for relief in Eindhoven. 4-2
