“There was only one team that wanted to win here this afternoon and that was us, “said Manchester United coach Louis van Gaal after a disappointing 0-0 draw at home against Newcastle United
.
United had the best chances for victory, but managed but not in Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul to pass at least once. “With how we played, I am satisfied, but not with the result,” said Van Gaal. “As a team we played fantastic, arguably one of the best matches since I’m United coach. In the last phase, we unfortunately were often not the right choice.”
The event took place at a breakneck pace but often Krul was a third win in a row for United in the way. “I’m a fan of this kind of race. We worked very hard.”
