Bertens rallied from a pretty dramatic first set. In the decisive third set, however, they gave the initiative back from the hands.

The 29-year-old Kuznetsova, No. 18 in the world, is hugely experienced and captured in her career for two grand slam tournaments. In 2004 she triumphed at the US Open. Five years after she went into Paris with the victory on the pull.
