Agents from the international police force Interpol on Friday (local time) raided in Argentina premises of three suspects in the extensive investigation into corruption at FIFA.

The three men are suspected by US justice tens of millions of dollars to have paid bribes in the football world. On that reported local media, reports news agency ANP.

It is the Argentines Alejandro Burzaco, Hugo Jinkis and his son Mariano Jinkis. Interpol did the raids on two companies for sports media and promotion, which are held by the three suspects. Thursday a judge had already issued an arrest warrant for the suspects, but they have not been arrested. The United States has in Argentina an outstanding request for the extradition of the suspects.

The three defendants had together founded the company with which they Datisa for hundreds of millions of dollars buying up the television rights to football matches and tournaments, including the Copa America 2015, 2019 and 2023. They were, according to the indictment from the US rights have been by a total of about 110 million dollars (100 million euros) to pay a bribe to football in Central and South America.

An amount of $ 45 million would have ended up in the pockets of three top officials of the South American soccer federation Conmebol.

Although it is not mentioned by name, Julio Grondona is probably one of those officials. Grondona was for 35 years the boss of the Argentine Football Association, a close friend of the accused entrepreneur Bruzaco and for years one of the right hands of the newly elected FIFA president Sepp Blatter. Grondona died in July 2014
