Verstappen is quoted fastest time in first free practice in Mexico – NU.nl

The 18 year old Dutchman clocked in the final minutes of the practice session in his Toro Rosso round of 1.25,990.

That was Verstappen, who cut off a bend and there may some had time advantage , by far the fastest. Three tenths behind were Daniil Kviat (1.26,295) and Kimi Raikkonen, who drove the same time as Kviat.

Sebastian Vettel (1.26,886) and Daniel Ricciardo (1.27,185) completed the top five. Brand new world champion Lewis Hamilton gave more than 1.7 seconds and became a time of 1.27,723 only eleventh

Carlos Sainz, Verstappen teammate at Toro Rosso, recorded the eighth time:. 1.27,410.

Verstappen last week at the Grand Prix of the United States in Austin for the second time this season to fourth place increasing. He is tenth in the World Championship mode

Trouble

On the sharply grown Autódromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit had almost all drivers initially struggling with the grip. The brand new asphalt was smooth, partly because of the fog that shortly before the workout still hung over the high altitude Mexico City (2200 meters).

Many drivers control were on their cars even lost during the first meeting with the new circuit. As the training progressed, the conditions improved and the track faster.
