Femke Heemskerk at the European Championships in Berlin, won a bronze medal in the 200 meters freestyle. The 26-year-old Roelofarendsveen Veense clocked Saturday in the finals a time of 1.56,81.
Wednesday Heemskerk was already second in the 100m freestyle. Also on the relay numbers she picked up two silvers.
Heemskerk was on the 200 free just Italian Federica Pellegrini and Hungarian Katinka Hosszu doing better. Pellegrini explained in 1.56,01 seizure of gold. That she was 0.68 seconds faster than Hosszu.
After an embrace with technical director Joop Alberda the tears came in Heemskerk. “I was so tired, but I quote here despite everything my fourth medal in such a strong field., I’m really proud,” said the swimmer her emotional response.
