Van Dijk gives Orange first gold – Telegraaf.nl

The first gold medal for the Netherlands at the European Games is a fact. Cycling Star Ellen Van Dijk, Thursday was with great force the strongest in the time trial. Annemiek van Vleuten made the party complete with a bronze medal. The silver was Ganna Solovei from Ukraine

Van Dijk took on the 25.8 kilometer course at a speed of 47 7 mph and Solovei remained less than 34 seconds in Baku.

Former world champion Van Dijk had 32.26,87 needed for the trial over 25.8 kilometers. Ukrainian followed in 36.50 and Van Vleuten at over 1.06.



Stef Clement

Later on Thursday in Baku also the time trial for men. For the Netherlands is Stef Clement at the start

The total number of Dutch medals in Baku now stands at five (one gold, two silver and two bronze)
