Nuis second at World Cup sprint, bronze for Verbij and Ter Mors – NU.nl

In the final 1000 meters Nuis posted a course record (1.09,09), making him the fourth rose to second place. Saturday triumphed 26-year-old South Hollander already in the first race over 1000 meters.

Nuis could not come close to Pavel Kulizhnikov because of his excessive times in the 500 meters, where it stops then came the fourteenth and sixteenth place. The sprinter from Zoeterwoude ended despite its strong 1000 meters at 0.75 seconds of the two-time world champion from Russia.

Dutch champion Verbij clocked the fourth fastest time (1.10,09) on the second kilometer and therefore had to settle with the bronze in South Korea. The 21-year-old Hoogmade to debut in Seoul at a World Cup sprint.

Kulizhnikov saw his leadership not compromised and extended relatively easily his world sprint. The 21-year-old Russian came up with the hands on the back over the finish line in a time of 1.09,84.

Ronald Mulder ended the world title race in ninth position after he got no further than its final stage twelfth time (1.10,75)

Ter Mors

The 26-year-old ter Mors did the women alone to prioritize winner Brittany Bowe and Heather Richardson-Bergsma.

Prior to the final 1000 meters was already clear that ter Mors had to focus on consolidating third place .

Due to a moderate 500 meters earlier in the day she had to make up more than a second two American skaters.

Marrit Leenstra seized fourth place in the standings. The Friesian was prior to 1000 meters still sixth. Sanneke the Neeling decided the tournament twentieth after an eighteenth place on the second 1000 meters.

Bowe gave her cachet title by winning the second 1000 meters. She continued Ter Mors just ahead: 1.15,28 to 1.15,35. The US had earlier in the day already the strongest in the 500 meters.



Debut

To Spill debuted this weekend at the World Cup sprint. The originally short track star won earlier this month at the World Single Distance Championships gold medal in 1000 and 1500 meters.

Bowe (28) is the first skater to global sprint title extends since the German Monique Garbrecht, between 1999 and in 2001 completed a trilogy
