The American skater Brittany Bowe holds the world record in the 1000 meter recaptured. The world champion on this issue drove Sunday during the second World Cup in Salt Lake City a time of 1.12,18. Bowe won two years ago for the first time the world record for the kilometer, with a time of 1.12,58. She rode last weekend in Calgary a time of 1.12,54 which afterwards was enhanced by Richardson.

The Chinese Zhang Hong, Olympic champion in the discipline, ended Sunday at the Utah Olympic Oval in second place with a time of 1.12,77. Richardson, who played in the last race against Bowe had to take this time to settle for bronze in 1.13,45.

Leenstra fourth

Marrit Leenstra ended up in fourth place with a time of 1.13,93. That was the Dutch champion at this distance above her personal of 1.13,88. Margot Boer drove the ninth time (1.14,68). Sanneke the Neeling came with a personal record of 1.14,92 in eleventh place out.
