The driver Toro Rosso continued his Spanish teammate Carlos Sainz just before with a time of 1.43,662.
Sainz could not complete the training because of a mechanical problem. Verstappen drove 40 laps at the Yas Marina Circuit and gave almost two seconds to Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg, who clocked the fastest time (1.41,983).
Teammate Lewis Hamilton set the second fastest time, followed Sergio Perez of Force India.
