The 25-year old rider from Allegiant Alpecin defeated include his fellow racers Robert Gesink, Steven Kruijswijk, Wout Poels and Niki Terpstra.
The field riders Mathieu van der Poel and Lars van der Haar and track rider Jeffrey Highland was nominated.
Dumoulin made this season impression in the Vuelta a España. He won two stages and took long time for the overall win, but eventually finished sixth.
The Tour de France was forced to retire from Limburg with view on the yellow jersey after a crash. He also was among more third in the Tour of Switzerland

Van der Breggen
In the women was the honorary title of Anna van der Breggen. The rider from Rabobank Liv trumped by election Lucinda Brand, Ellen van Dijk, Annemiek van Vleuten and Kirsten Wild off.
Van der Breggen wrote this season’s Giro Rosa, the Tour of Italy for women, for her name. She grabbed two silver medals at the World Championships in Richmond.
She was also the best in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and the Flèche Wallonne, she became Dutch Champion time trial in Emmen, she wrote the Luxembourg stage race Grand Prix Elsy Jacobs on her name and she took bronze in the road race of the European Games.
Elis Ligtlee was 2015 the best talent in that category were Dylan Groenewegen, Niek Kimman, Steven Lammertink and Sam Oomen nominated.
Terpstra
Last year there was some commotion about the choice Dumoulin with the men. Niki Terpstra then grabbed the winner of Paris-Roubaix next to the title.
” Last year was a big surprise and this year a little less. There was a big discussion and it was a mixed feeling. I then did not really enjoy it. I try to objectively look at and I think I’ve earned it this time, ” said Dumoulin Monday.
Terpstra agreed with Dumoulin. ” I have ten minutes last year angered. Tom with his performance, this time the right winner ”
