“I do not believe it yet,” said Ted-Jan Flowers in front of the NIS after his sensational world record at the 10th kilometer. “I would win here, I did not expect.”
Flowers, opening since last year for Canada, came during the World Cup in Salt Lake City on a time of 12.36,30. That he was considerably faster than the previous top time of Sven Kramer, who finished on the same track in March 2007 in 12.41,69.
“It felt like hell,” adds Flowers. “I had a good rhythm, the audience was enthusiastic and I heard from the speaker that I was under the world record. And then there is such a beautiful time out.”
After the race Flowers was turn to Kramer, who had to compete against Jorrit Bergsma. “I could not look into it,” said Flowers. “I ran away and go cycling.”
