Update Two-thirds of the Dutch find that the Dutch top skaters European Championship round in Russia’s Chelyabinsk links should leave. This is the result of a poll on this site with a proposition: the skaters must avoid the European Championships in Russia.

Skater must avoid Championship round in Russia

In total, more than 6,000 people responded to the poll. 67% was for the proposition, 33% against. If you have not voted yet, you can do so in our poll on the right.

The Dutch skating association (Dutch Federation) and the NOC * NSF fully understand if rounders stay home in January because of the air crash with MH17 and the current political role of the host country on the world stage.

Last week cranked skating coach Jan van Veen Team Corendon the discussion with a clear “no” to the question whether he is going to the European Championships. Over the weekend spoke topschaatssters Ireen Wüst and Marrit Leenstra openly their doubts about participation in Chelyabinsk.

According to Van Veen that sport and politics do indeed make a lot together. The Dutch Federation does not think that the International Skating Union ISU a line must get through the European Championship.
